Songs from the Heart, a fundraising concert for Northern Rivers for Refugees, will be presented at St Mary’s Anglican Church, Ballina, on Saturday September 27 at 3pm.
Expect to be delighted by the variety of performances and the breadth of talent you’ll experience in one afternoon’s entertainment.
Headline act, Monkey & the Fish, are excited to join Sea Spirit Singers and other musicians to support local refugee resettlement.
Monkey & the Fish duo, Chris Fisher and Marcelle Townsend-Cross, will perform a selection of their celebrated and inspiring original tunes. Chris is a multi-award-winning songwriter, music producer, singer, guitarist and pianist.
Also a multi-award-winning songwriter and multi-instrumentalist is Mish Songsmith, who will deliver passionate, poetic and inspirational songs.
Mind, body and soul will be calmed by Ballina’s Threshold Choir, under the direction of Reverend Cathy Ridd. And just to pile variety on diversity, retired College Director of Music, Lindy Crocker, will entertain and intrigue with handbell tunes.
Peter Lehner, whose musical talent and teaching contributions to the community have been recognised many times over, including in the Australia Day awards, will melt your heart in a solo performance, with his mellifluous renditions of jazz standards.
Under Peter’s baton is The Healing Voices Choir, performing popular songs in harmony. This group was formed under an innovative mental health recovery initiative in Lismore.
Ballina’s Sea Spirit Singers will be joined by the Biggest Little Town Choir, from Mullumbimby – both choirs directed by Peter Lehner. This combined group recently opened the Mullumbimby Roots Festival with energy and flair.
