Refugee resettlement
We assist community Supporter Groups (CSGs) to welcome, support and integrate newly arrived refugees for their first year.
NRFR is one of a network of groups throughout Australia affiliated with the Community Refugee Integration and Settlement Pilot (CRISP). The Department of Home Affairs invites refugees to participate in CRISP and funds Community Refugee Sponsorship Australia (CRSA), a not-for-profit non-government national organisation, to deliver the program.
CRISP enables groups of everyday Australians to welcome refugees into their local community and help them from day one of their Australian journey. If you and your friends are interested in forming a community support group contact Community Refugee Sponsorship Australia or go to welcome a refugee family.
Raise money
Our fundraising provides essential support to newly arrived refugee families and individuals, such as short-term rental subsidies, furnishings and equipment to set up a home, and gain a driver’s licence.
Volunteers run a variety of events such as market stalls, bucket collections, raffles, theatre charity nights, live music concerts, film screenings, and Bunnings Barbeques. We are always looking for new ways to raise money.
Advocacy
We lobby local members of state and federal parliaments on refugee safety and wellbeing in Australia and offshore. We use our monthly Bulletin to raise community awareness about the challenges faced by refugees and asylum seekers. We organise actions such as roadside rallies.
