Tweed bids family farewell

It was a tearful farewell in November as the Al Mustafa family were bid goodbye by their support group Tweed Welcomes Refugees (TWR) and their new friends in Murwillumbah. They have spent their first six months in Australia learning English at school and Tafe, exploring their new surroundings and learning how to navigate our systems.

They are now settling in to the suburbs of Melbourne where other Syrian friends live and near to schools, mosques and more work opportunities.

Member of TWR Liz Waters said: “We are so proud of Fatemah and her children, Mohamad and Amal, with Fatemah’s sister Tunis. They took the brave step of choosing to move after only six months but we are reassured that they are finding their way in their new home.”
