Meet our new Volunteers Coordinator

We’re delighted to welcome Ollie Heathwood as NRFR’s new Volunteers Coordinator. Ollie brings a wealth of experience and energy to this essential role.

NRFR could not function without our incredible volunteers, and Ollie is already brimming with ideas on how best to coordinate our activities and put together the best teams to make events run smoothly.

“People from any background, age or level of physical ability can play a valuable role,” said Ollie.

“I’d like to set up little teams for different activities. For example, a grant-writing team won’t make physical demands on people.”

Ollie, who lives in Brunswick Heads, has a Graduate Diploma in Community Cultural Development. She has worked as online education designer for the NSW Department of Health, and managed the Federal Government Communities For Children program, aimed at children who’ve experienced trauma. Ollie also has extensive experience as an environmental educator and theatre practitioner.

“I was drawn to Northern Rivers for Refugees because I was looking for volunteer work that made an active contribution towards a better world,” she said.

Ollie is keen to hear from any prospective or existing volunteers.
