It’s going to be a huge night on Friday May 10 when Bowie, Elvis, Queen and Aretha will echo through the Tintenbar Hall in The Dead Legends Show.
Mullumbimby musician Smokey Fields and a few fellow fake Russians from acclaimed choir Dustyesky will perform acoustic love letters to the artists who changed the world.
Riding on the wave of his successful shows at the Brunswick Picture House, Smokey Fields is saddling his pony again to shine a light on his favourite Dead Legends.
‘”When a musician that we love dies, their music and lyrics can take on a whole new meaning for us,” Smokey Fields said.
“I’ve gathered a few friends and together we will perform songs from the artists that have changed our lives with our own unique voices.”
Smokey has created harmony-ridden acoustic versions of songs paying homage to dead legends like Aretha Franklin, Tom Petty, Elvis, Roy Orbison, Freddy Mercury, John Lennon and many more.
Smokey Fields and friends (Rebecca Ireland, Dustyesky members Mat Gulliford, James Dods and Nino Haggith) will perform their musical magic on Saturday May 11 at the Tintenbar Hall from 7pm.
All proceeds of the show will go to Ballina Region for Refugees.
Clinging steadfast to a time when Elvis was the King and Johnny Cash wore black, Smokey Fields’ voice has been likened to Roy Orbison and his face bears the scars of a song well written. If he rides into your one horse hamlet, be sure not to take your guns to town.
